beat but very unlucky not to make the final – 2nd Sept 2014
Wick Academy 1 – Brora Rangers 2 – Academy and Brora met in the semi-final of the AJG North
of Scotland Cup at Harmsworth Park. Brora won the match 2-1 but Academy matched
them in every department. Joe Malin was the hero in the Brora goal as he pulled
off 6 or 7 top class saves to deny the Scorries. James Pickles rifled in a 35
yard first half screamer to give the Scorries a half time lead but second half
goals from Zander Sutherland and Steven Mackay was enough to seal the win for
Brora. Steven Anderson almost out the game to penalty kicks when he hit the
post for Academy in the final minute.
Forres Mechanics 2 – Elgin City 4 – In
the Wednesday night semi Barry Wilson took his side into the final with a 4-2
win over Forres Mechanics. Shane Sutherland set the ball rolling scoring from a
penalty kick. Dennis Wyness headed home for Elgin to double their advantage but
the hosts pulled one back just before half time through Stuart Soane. Daniel
Moore restored the two goal advantage for Elgin before Bran Cameron made it 4.
Forres pulled a consolation back from Kyle Scott deep into injury time.
