Late Macadie winner gets Scorries off to
winning start – 2nd Aug
Wick Academy 3 – Deveronvale 2 –
Wick Academy opened the season with a hard fought win at home to Deveronvale.
Gary Weir put the hosts in front in the 43rd minute after being set up by Davie
Allan. The Vale equalised a minute after half-time when John Urquhart headed
home. Weir added a second after the Vale keeper had parried a shot into his
path. Kyle Rae netted with a header to tie the scores but Richard Macadie
ensured the Scorries took the points with the winner coming in the last minute
of the game.
Brora Rangers 6 – Huntly 0 –
Champions Brora got off to a good start scoring six without reply at home to
Huntly. Andrew Greig opened the scoring just before the half hour mark, Colin
Williamson added a second in the 41st minute. Steven Mackay got the third in
the 62nd minute before adding a fourth in the 73rd minute. James Ross made it
five before Gavin Morrison completed the scoring.
Clachnacuddin 1 – Cove Rangers 1 –
Connor Scully gave Cove the lead away to Clach in the 29th minute when he
tucked the ball under the keeper. Clach got an equaliser in the 87th minute
when Danny Maclennan rifled the ball home from 18 yards.
Forres Mechanics 1 – Fraserburgh 1 –
Courtney Cooper opened the scoring for Fraserburgh away to Forres in the 71st
minute with an unstoppable drive from 35 yards. The Can-Cans however were not
to be denied and Ross Macpherson headed home in the 91st minute to grab a share
of the points.
Fort William 1 – Buckie Thistle 2 –
Sean Grant gave Fort William an early lead at home with a nice half volley
finish. Buckie equalised just after half-time when Jay Cheyne rose highest to
net before Craig MacMillan secured all three points for Buckie from the spot.
Lossiemouth 1 – Keith 3 –
Stuart Masie gave Keith the lead away to Lossiemouth getting on the end of a
Michael Ewen pass to net. Ewen then added a second when he volleyed home from
25 yards. Kevin Duguid pulled a goal back for Lossiemouth with a counter
attacking goal before Ewen wrapped up the three points in stoppage time.
Nairn County 0 – Formartine United 1 –
Formartine took all three points away to Nairn thanks to a goal in the 87th
minute from the prolific Cammy Keith. Nairn best chance fell to Alan Pollock
but he was denied from 12 yards with a great save from the keeper.
Rothes 0 – Inverurie Locos 7 –
Martin Bavidge opened the scoring after 24 seconds for Inverurie away to Rothes
before adding a second from the penalty spot after 56 minutes. Bavidge
completed his hat-trick on the hour mark. Neil Gauld added two quick fire goals
before Dean Donaldson netted two late goals to complete the scoring.
Strathspey Thistle 0 –
Turriff United 4 – Nick Gray gave Turriff the lead away to
Strathspey in the 63rd minute when he tapped home from a corner. Jamie Beagrie
added a second with a back heel before trialist Darren Mackie added a third.
Another trialist Kuznecovs completed the scoring netting at the back post.
