Shearer's goal was his final contribution as he was replaced
by Stevie Cunningham for the start of the second half.
Good work from Richard Macadie almost saw the Scorries
double their lead. He ran in and blocked a clearance from keep Donaldson.
Macadie crossed to Mackay who slid it to Weir but he fluffed his lines firing
wide.
On 72 minutes Stuart Lesley broke into the Academy box and
Alan Farquhar slid in and looked to have won the ball but referee Graham Elder pointed
to the spot much to the despair of the Academy players and supporters alike.
Michael Morrison took the spot kick and made no mistake as he sent Gray the
wrong way.
1 – 1
5 minutes later Nairn scored the winner. Academy failed to
clear a crossed ball and Ross Naismith dived in with a brave header to send the
ball into the net.
1 – 2
Academy pushed to get back in the game and substitute
Geruzel sent Mackay through on goal but keep Donaldson was quick off his mark
and made a good block to deny Mackay.
It took the frame of the Nairn goal to deny Academy a late
winner when Geruzel first headed an Academy corner off the face of the
crossbar. The ball bounced back out and fell to Michael Seven and he too hit
the cross-bar before Nairn scrambled away the rebound.
