Within 6 minutes it was 3-0 when a Stevie
Cunningham thunderbolt crashed down off the bar and Richard Macadie
drilled in the rebound from 8 yards.
3 – 0
Academy then seemed to take their foot off the gas, but Lossie battled to stay in the game and in the
41st minute Scott Miller set up Ryan Farquhar who fired the ball high into the
Wick net from 25 yards.
3 – 1
Keeper Watson made a spectacular save to keep out
Michael Steven's header just before the break.
Half Time – Wick Academy 3 – Lossiemouth 1
Wick struggled to assert themselves and
midway through the second half were shocked by a second Lossie goal when a
25 yard shot from Callum Dunbar was deflected past Michael Gray.
3 – 2
Wick were
getting the ball forward but passes were going astray in the final third though
again Steven brought the best out of Watson, this time with a powerful low
drive, the Lossie keeper diving to turn it past the post.
James Murray came on for Lukasz Geruzel and he crossed the ball which
took a deflection and fell to Gary Weir who flicked it into the box but
Lossie cleared the danger.
James Pickles then drove a 25 yard shot that looked goal-bound but
keeper Watson got down well and turned it around the post with his left
hand.
Wick nerves were eased in the 75th minute when
Davie Allan broke down the wing and crossed into the box which Lossie
failed to clear and the ball fell to Alan Farquhar who pounced to volley
it
acrobatically into the net from 15 yards for his first Academy goal.
4 – 2
Davie Allan again had a hand in Academy's final goal when he burst up
the wing and crossed to Macadie who was free in the box and he struck a
first time shot into the roof of the net to put the game beyond the
visitors.
5 – 2
Full Time – Wick Academy 5 – Lossiemouth 2
The win saw Academy stretch their
unbeaten Highland League home record to 33 games over almost two years.
