Pre-Season Friendly – Thurso 1 – Wick Academy 6
Academy played the second game of their pre-season series
and beat Thurso by 6 goals to 1. The game was played at the Dammies and was
part of the Dodo & Clair MacLean Memorial Tournament.
Scorries skipper Sam Mackay scored a first half double. The
opener came on 14 minutes when he swept home a ball that was delivered from the
right flank. His second came 2 minutes later. Davie Allan was taken down in the
box by the Vikings keeper Lee Allan and Mackay converted from the penalty spot.
Academy had 3 other good chances in the first half to increase their lead, one
in particular from Gary Weir who thought he'd scored but his effort took a
deflection and flew just over the crossbar.
On the Hour Davie
Allan bagged another, and Stevie Cunningham also hit the net to give the
visitors a commanding lead. Davie Allan then grabbed his second of the game to
put Academy nap, before younger brother Ross also hit the onion-bag to take the
total to 6.
Tony Miller pulled a consolation goal back for the host with
10 minutes left to round the scoring off at 1-6.
