Formartine had a great chance to open the scoring on the 23rd
minute when Mark Smith got his head to a crossed ball, but he sent it wide of
target.

End to end stuff, as Academy break up-field in the 25th
minute. Mackay marches into the box and takes the ball around substitute keeper
Bremner and shot from 8 yards out, but Colin Robertson got back and blocked the
ball on the line.

With a half hour played Formartine have their best passing move of the
game before Ross Campbell delivered the ball from the right
but it was volleyed over the bar by Andrew Bagshaw.

Substitute keeper Bremner is earning his crust as he got
down smartly to save a deflected shot from Mackay.

In the 37th minute Academy were awarded a penalty
kick. Ross Allan drove into the box and was taken down by keeper Bremner 10
yards from goal. There was plenty of covering players, so not the last man, and
referee Milne awarded the spot kick and booked Bremner. Stevie Cunningham drove
the PK to the right but keeper Bremner got a hand to it and made the save.

Academy have to start taking these chances as Formartine,
even down to 10 men, look as if they can score.

In the last action of the half Cunningham is through the
defence and had a shot from the edge of the box but it was well saved by Bremner.

Half Time 0 – 0

Formartine are still in this game. They are playing with
Bagshaw up front on his own, but they look threatening on the attack.

Stuart Mackay lashes in
a free kick form left and the ball flashed across goal and was missed by everyone
before going out at the back post.

On hour mark Academy win a couple of corners. A Macadie shot
smacked off a defender, and Mackay played a neat one-two with Davie Allan but
Allan's shot went wide of target.

In the next Academy attack Davie Allan was again in the
middle of things as he squeezed a shot between two Formartine defenders but it
went inches past the post from 6 yards out.

With 65 minutes played Academy opened the scoring. Mackay
chipped the ball into the Formartine box from the right and Macadie picked his
spot and hammered home from 8 yards out.

0 – 1

Academy are still attacking and a Cunningham shot that
looked goal-bound cannons off a defender.

With 10 minutes of the game left Academy have a good
sweeping passing move involving Macdie, Stewart Ross and Shaun Sinclair before Sinclair
slipped the ball to Davie Allan on the edge of the box but keeper Bremner was
smart off his line and smothered the ball.

2 minutes later Academy have a similar move with a well
weighted through ball by Stewart Ross to Davie Allan in the right hand corner
of the box and he drove the ball inches past the back post.

Academy double their advantage in the dying minutes of the
game. Davie Allan won the ball in the centre circle, ran between two defenders into
the box before drawing the keeper and he swept the ball into the corner of the
net.

0 – 2

There was a glimpse into the future during the final couple of minutes when 16 year old Alan Hughes and 17 year old James Mackay combined their talents on the right wing to leave the home defence trailing in their wake. Hughes fired in a shot from 15 yards but it swerved away to the right of the goal.

Academy run down the clock and come away with our first ever win at North Lodge Park, and our first clean sheet of the season.
