Academy played the second of their pre-season friendlies against
Thurso FC last Saturday as part of the Dodo & Clair MacLean Memorial
Tournament. The Scorries ran out 1-0 winners with a second half goal from
Stevie Cunningham being enough to secure the win.

Thurso started brightly and good link-up between Lee
MacDougal and Jamie MacKenzie lead to a goal-line clearance with Bokas scrambling
to clear his line.

Academy's best chance on the first half came following a
corner kick. The ball fell in the middle of the box to Alex Lamb but he steered
his attempt straight to the Viking's keeper Asa Sinclair.

The first half ended in a low for the Scorries when Davie
Allan was sent off for kicking out at Lewis Harrold.

Half time 0 – 0

Academy made the break-through with 53 minutes played. Stevie
Cunningham was slid through the middle of the home defence. He took the ball
around the keeper and tucked home from a tight angle.

Thurso had a couple of half-breaks in the second half but
failed to capitalise on any of them. Joe Steven snuffed out one of their best
chances when he nicked the ball off the toes of Jamie MacKenzie just as he was
about to pull the trigger in the middle of the Academy penalty area.

Academy came close to their second when several attempts in
quick succession from Ross Allan and James Mackay smacked off the Thurso wood-work, but the final score remained
at 1-0 to Academy.

Full Time 0 – 1

Academy's final friendly is against Inverness City. That game will be played in Dingwall on Saturday the 23rd July, kick-off is at 1:00pm.
