7 minutes before half time and Academy level the scores. Craig Shearer
slots David Allan iinto the box and  he is taken down in the box for
the second week running by keeper Nelson. Sam Mackay steps up and repeats the dose administered in the first game by firing home to Nelson's right. The Academy support go ape!!

1 – 1

Academy almost increase their lead. Gary Manson crossed for David Allan
and he smacked a first time shot that went just wide into the
side-netting.

Brechin respond within minutes. Mark Docherty dribbled through the heart of the Academy defence and hammered a right foot shot across Bokas and into the corner.

2 – 1

Time up for the first half and Academy still have it in them to pull off a shock.

Half Time 2 – 1

18 minutes of the second half played and Charlie King is
starting to run the show for Brechin. He contributes to Brechin's 3rd
goal by again supplying a cross from the right. Rory McAllister gets himself
free in the box and heads the ball down into the ground and into the net.

3 – 1

Academy make a change with Bryan McKiddie coming on for Stevie Cunningham.

72 minutes gone and Brechin look as if they may have put the
game beyond doubt. Rory McAllister fires in a looping shot from the right hand
side which dipped over the top of Bokas and into the net for his second goal of the game.

4 – 1

72 minutes and Gary Weir takes the park coming on for Sam Mackay.

8 minutes left and Academy are not dead yet. They pull a
goal back. A neat interchange between Gary Weir and Richard Macadie sees
Macadie in some space and he curled a right foot shot past keeper Nelson and
into the right hand corner of the net from 12 yards out.

4 – 2

In the 83rd and 84th minutes both sides make another change. Sean
McKenna comes on for Rory McAllister, and Alex Lamb comes on for Alan
Farquhar.

Only a minute left to play of normal time and Brechin run down the
clock by making their final substitution. Mark Docherty is replaced
with Mark Cowan.

Referee Crawford Allan blows for full time. Academy
can be very proud of their performance against a top 2nd Divison SFL
side. To score 6 goals against them in 2 games is outstanding,
especially considering that Brechin have only conceeded a total of 14
goals so far in their 15 league games played. Well done boys
for giving us a great Cup run, roll-on next year, I can't wait!

Full Time 4 – 2

Brechin now go into the 4th round and face a trip to Ayr United on the 9th or 10th of January. Good luck to them for that game and for the remainder of their league campaign.

Academy are back to league business next weekend with our first ever trip to Strathspey Thistle (the Strathy Jags) at Seafield Park. The Scorries beat the new-comers 8-1 in their visit to the Harmsworth Park, but the team from Granton will be a different proposition I'm sure this time around, now that they have found their feet a little better. Indeed they recorded their 1st league win the weekend before last against Fort William, so that will have given them a confidence boost.
