The third came shortly afterwards. Gunn slid a pass in
behind the defence for Macadie who again ran in on goal with ball at feet. He
got his shot on target but Bowles managed to block it with a foot, but the ball
fell to Cunningham and he had an easy finish from 3 yards out.

3 – 0

Strathspey had their first sniff on target I the 22nd
minute when Jamie Rodgers managed to get a shot away but More made a
comfortable save.

As if to rub salt into the new-comers wounds Academy went
straight back up the park and scored their 4th of the game. Campbell played the ball
into Weir on the right flank. He held the ball up before releasing it to
Macadie to stabbed the ball towards goal for David Allan to run in and he took
his time and simply passed the ball into the Strathspey net.

4 – 0

Martin Gunn almost doubled his tally with a 35 yard free
kick that he scorched just wide of the right hand post, but the Scorries went
nap on the half-hour mark. Macadie controlled a long ball out of defence and
sent in Cunningham who took a neat 1-2 with Macadie before skipped through the
Strathspey defence and burying the ball into the back of the net.

5 – 0

Everything Academy touched seemed to result in a goal, and
number 6 was not long in the making.  The
ball was played up to  Weir on the right
flank. 3 Strathspey defenders tried to get the ball off him, but Weir twisted
and turned with the ball glued to his feet and was eventually fouled. With the
Strathspey defenders out of position Manson took a quick free kick into
Cunningham in the box and he took the ball down and squaring across goal to
Macadie. He struck the ball off the under-side of the crossbar and it bounced
across the line and into the net.

6 – 0

3 minutes before the break Macadie completed his hat-trick.
Manson combined with Weir who slid the ball into Macadie and he ran into the
box and clipped the ball over the top of an advancing Bowles.

7 – 0

A minutes later Macadie scored his 4th goal, and
arguably the best of the game. A long high ball was played up-field out of
defence and Macadie ran onto it, again stripping the Strathspey defender
Russell for speed. Macadie watched the ball come over the top of his head and
from 25 yards out he timed a perfect volley off the laces of his right boot and
it flew into the top right hand corner of the net.

8 – 0

Half time 8 – 0

The second half by comparison was a lot quieter and was
punctuated but several substitutions for both sides.

The closest Academy came in increasing their lead came in
the 63rd minute. Substitute Ross Allan sent the ball forward to Cunningham who
controlled it on his chest before squaring to David Allan but his shot smacked
back out off the post with keeper Bowles well beaten.

Despite being 8 down the Strathspey players stuck to the
task and David Ritchie wrote himself into the history-books by scoring their
first ever league goal.  The ball was
played onto the Academy box from the right wing and bounced across the Academy
back-line before falling to Ritchie and he pivoted his body around the ball and
fired home.

8 – 1

In the only remaining action of the game Bowles made a good
save at the feet of Cunningham to deny him a hat-trick, and substitute Ross
Allan for Strathspey had a free header from a corner that he should have got on
target but he directed it over the top of the Academy cross-bar.

Final Score 8 – 1

The result has placed Academy at the top of the table on
goal difference and it equalled their highest previous league game eight goal
tally which was against Fort
William in February 2008.
That game finished 8-0 to the Scorries.
