As Academy continue to dominate the game Deveronvale are forced into making a change 3 minutes before the half-time break. Mike MacKenzie pulls up with an injury and John Coutts comes on in his place.

Half Time 1 – 0

5 minutes after the re-start the Vale double their lead.
Academy failed to clear a ball into the box and it fell to Gary Clark who
lobbed it back into the mix. The ball is half-cleared again and came back out
to Robbie Duncanson who had a shot that was blocked. The re-bound fell nicely
to Mark Chisholm and from 12 yards out he rifled a low shot into the left hand
corner of the net.

Academy haven't given the game up and get another half-chance.
Cowie did well up the wing before sending in a dangerous low cross to the Vale
box. Macadie managed to get his foot to the ball but a Vale defender got his
leg in to block the shot.

71 minutes of the half gone and Vale make their second substitution
with Robbie Duncanson coming off for Gary McGowan.

With 74 minutes on the clock the Vale keeper Blanachard
again denies Macadie a goal as he flung himself at a shot that was heading for
the top left hand corner and finger-tipped it over the bar.

With 15 minutes of the game left David Allan gets his
Academy debut coming on for Gary Farquhar.

With 8 minutes left Academy had a glorious chance to get
right back into the game. Macadie broke clear and sent Cowie into the box. With
only the keeper to beat he smacked his shot off the outside of his boot and it
flew wide of target from only 12 yards out.

Graeme Watt is unlucky not to score in the 85th minute
as he show some great skill but his 20 yard curling shot smacks off the
under-side of the cross bar and MacMillan collects.

With only a few minutes left more bad news for Academy as
Gunn goes down from a tackle by Gary McGowan and is stretchered off in some pain with what
looks like an injured ankle.

Referee Watt blows for full time in a game that Academy had
a cart-load of scoring chances but unfortunately couldn't make any of them
count.

The win for Vale puts them a point clear of Inverurie at the top of the league, but the Locos have 2 games in hand.
