Alness on the 17th of February for a development under 17's league
fixture, and won a hard-fought game by 4-3 with the help of a hat-trick from
Grant MacNab.
Academy
opened the scoring in the 5th minute with MacNab slotting home from
close range. Alness levelled the game a few minutes later following a
goal-mouth scramble.
The
Scorries however pushed on and two quick goals by MacNab gave them a two goal
advantage going into the second half. MacNab's hat-trick goal coming from a
tremendous free-kick.
Half-time

Alness
came straight back into the game after the re-start with the referee awarded a
goal that looked as if it possibly hadn't crossed the line. This was despite
the fact that he was some 40 yards away.
Academy
then picked up the pace with the impressive Scot Mackenzie dominating the
midfield, and they went on to score their fourth when Andrew Cumming beat two
defenders and found the net from a tight angle.
A
mistake in the Academy defence with 5 mins to go allowed Alness to score third
making the score 4-3 for wick and this set-up an anxious end to the game.
Both
teams had a few chances near the end with the wood-work being hit, but the game
ended 4-3 for Academy.
