Academy set out to try to do the double over the coasters. Craig Shearer is back in the starting line-up and plays at centre-half. Shaun Sinclair returns after his 2 match suspension, but starts on the bench. Last weeks hat-trick hero Gary Manson plays up front with Shane Sutherland.

A bright sunny day with a light breeze at Grant Park and the game has just kicked off.

Honours pretty even with 20 minutes played. Neither team have had a clear-cut chance at goal. Wick are retaining good ball but have not as yet been able to penetrate the Lossiemouth defence.

22 minutes played and David Mowat has a great run down the right wing. He sent a cross into the Lossiemouth box that everyone missed. The ball eventually dropped for Richard Macadie but he blasted over the top from 12 yards out.

Just on the half-hour Lossiemouth were awarded a free-kick just outside the Academy box. The ball was knocked around the wall and Kyle Stewart had a curling right foot effort from 18 yards that went across the face of goal and was saved brilliantly by James More with a diving one handed stop.

Half time 0 – 0

Breaking news at the start of the second half – Academy secretary Alistair Ross wins the half-time raffle of £25. The drinks are seemingly on him after the game!

Just over an hour gone and Shane Sutherland scores for Academy. Good build up play from Martin Gunn and Gary Farquhar plays Shane to the edge of the Lossiemouth box. With his back to goal he turned his man and fired past Masterton’s left hand into the corner of the net. This goal moves Shane to this years joint top league goal scorer with Martin Gunn, both on 6 for the season.

0 – 1

Richard Macadie has another good chance to extend the lead, but again blasts high over the top.

70 minutes and Academy make 2 changes. Gary Weir coming on for goal scorer Shane Sutherland and Shaun Sinclair coming on for Gary Farquhar.

10 minutes left and Academy make their final change. Alex Lamb being replaced by Bryan McKiddie.

Lossie battle to the end and make it tough but Wick manage to hold-out for another 3 points. Forres drew 0 – 0 with Fraserburgh today, so this win takes Academy a point above Forres into 11th place in the league on 25 points. This equals last years points tally, and we still have 4 home games to play; Cove, Brora, Fraserburgh and Fort William.

Final Score 0 – 1
