Seven minutes into the second half Fraserburgh squared the scores.
Good play down the left flank saw a cross come into the box which found Paul
Campbell. He took a touch and fired a rocked high passed McCarthy.
1 – 1
Just before the hour the home side took the lead. Willie
West drove towards goal before crossing to Campbell and from 12 yards out he
fired home into the bottom right hand corner for his second of the match.
2 – 1
McCarthy had to look sharp in the Academy goal as he tipped
a first-time effort from Willie West over the top of the cross-bar.
On 64 minutes Fraserburgh were awarded a penalty when Gary
Harris was pushed whilst trying to reach a cross. Harris took the spot-kick and
despite McCarthy guessing the right way he couldn't stop it landing in the
bottom right hand corner of the net.
3 – 1
In the next attack Academy were a whisker from pulling
themselves back into it. Gary Manson fed Richard Macadie and from 25 yards out
he took a touch, teed himself up and had a great effort that smacked off the
post.
Lewis Davidson cleared an Academy attack up-field which fell
to Harris. He ran into the box and went around McCarthy sending his shot across
goal but Michael Steven was there to clear off the line for a corner.
Jack Halliday had an effort from a free kick 25 yards from
goal that he sent high and wide of the target on a day that just wasn't meant
to be for the Scorries.
