Academy travelled to the picturesque Claggan Park without
the services of James Pickles, Gary Weir, Danny McCarthy and Sean McCarthy.
James More filled in between the sticks, Ross Allan and Andrew Mackay also made
the starting eleven.
Academy had the three points in the bag before the half-time
whistle had been blown. Gary Manson opened the scoring with his first goal of
the season before Sam Mackay doubled the advantage. In the space of 16 minutes
Steven Anderson helped himself to a hat-trick, before Richard Macadie capped a
super first half performance by scoring the 6th.
So game over, not a chance, Fort were having none of it!
Martin Munro pulled a goal back 6 minutes after the re-start and two goals from
Scott Davidson in the space of 11 minutes saw Fort half the deficit.
A few minutes later though Davie Allan knocked in his first
goal of the season to settle the ship and restore a 4 goal cushion. Alan
Farquhar also got his name on the score-sheet for the first time this season
with the final goal in injury time to wrap up a great afternoon's
entertainment.
Gary Manson set the ball rolling with a low drive under
keeper David Harrison after 9 minutes. 2 minutes later Sam Mackay showed a great
touch clipping the ball into the net to double the advantage.
Steven Anderson then got in on the act scoring a great
hat-trick. He opened with an arrowed shot from 12 yards, and then converted two
more after getting onto then end of pin-point through-balls.
Richard Macadie capped a fine first half performance curling
in a well taken shot from the edge of the box passed a helpless Harrison.
Half Time – Fort William 0 – Wick Academy 6
Fort came out fighting at the start of the second half and
with 6 minutes played they pulled a goal back. Martin Munro broke into the box
and made no mistake slotting passed James More.
Scott Davidson then bagged a double, the first from a well
stuck shot from 20 yards, and then he got his head to a crossed ball for his
second.
Davie Allan settled the game with his first goal of the
season with a well taken strike from the right side of the penalty area, before
Alan Farquhar headed home the final goal in injury time.
