Academy welcomed in-form Fraserburgh to Harmsworth Park today and the teams battled out a 0-0 draw. Sean McCarthy pulled off a great save after 10 minutes to deny Graham Johnston from the penalty spot after Grant Campbell was adjudged by referee Thomas Shaw to have fouled his man inside the penalty box.

Both sides displayed some nervy defending which resulted in good opportunities, but none of the strikers today could find the killer touch. James Pickles had a long range effort that deceived everyone and came off the base of the post, and with 14 minutes left to play Davie Allan broke free and was taken down by Russell McBride just outside the Fraserburgh penalty area. McBride got his marching orders to leave the visitors with only 10 men for the remainder of the game.

Academy looked as if they had stolen it in the final minutes when the ball went ping-pong in the Fraserburgh penalty box. It fell to Gary Weir but he couldn’t get a good connection on it and the ball landed up in the arms of keeper Paul Leask.
