The chances kept coming for the home side and they created
again when Garry Wood laid the ball off to Scott Barbour. Barbour square it across
the box to Graeme Rodger but he squeezed his shot past the outside of the post.
Despite the chances for the home side it was Academy that
opened the scoring 6 minutes before the interval. Danny Mackay sent in a long
throw-in on the right to Davie Allan and he hit the turbo getting to the
by-line before cutting the ball back across goal for Steven Anderson who had a
tap-in from 6 yards out.

Within three minutes of the re-start Formartine finally
turned a chance into a goal. A ball into the Academy box was flicked on to
Stuart Anderson 6 yards from goal. McCarthy saved his first shot but Anderson
netted the re-bound from close range.

Formartine continued to create good chances. Gary Wood
latched onto a short back-pass but under pressure from the covering Academy
defence he sent his shot wide of target.
The home side are piling all they have at the Academy
defence and McCarthy is forced into beating away a powerful shot that was on
target from Garry Woods.
Just after the hour Formartine won a free-kick on the left.
Paul Lawson picked out Stuart Smith but his header clipped the top of the
cross-bar and went over.
On 63 minutes Academy managed to clear the ball off the line
before Wood followed in but his shot was saved by McCarthy and Academy cleared
the danger.
The chances kept coming for Formartine. Cammy Keith managed
to slip a couple of challenges as he danced his way into the Academy box but
McCarthy made a smart save to keep the scores level.
The constant Formartine pressure finally paid off and they
took the lead. Jamie Michie played the ball into the box to Stuart Anderson who
managed to hold off a challenge and feed Graeme Rodger who riffled a shot across
the face of goal and into the bottom corner of the net.

Just before the final whistle Academy almost nicked a point
when Steven Anderson turned his marker just inside the box but his left foot
shot was saved by Andy Shearer.
