Wick Academy came from behind today to reach the first
Highland League Cup final in the Club's history. A bumper crowed filled
Harmsworth Park and the home contingent were silenced after 26 minutes when Paul
Macleod got onto the end on a Sam Urquhart cross and from 10 yards out he
powered home his header.
It looked as if it wouldn't be Academy's day but in the 78th
minute Steven Anderson pounced on a loose ball in the Nairn penalty area and
made no mistake in finding the net to level the scores.
Better was to come for the Scorries when with only 4 minutes
left on the clock Davie Allan turned home a Steven Anderson cross to send the Harmsworth
faithful into raptures and Academy played out the final minutes to march into
the final. They will face Cove Rangers who defeated Turriff United by the same
score-line.
The final will be played on the 11th April at
Grant Street Park Inverness.
