Academy battle into the 2nd round of the HL Cup – 7th Feb 2015
Wick Academy ensured their name went into the hat for the second round of the Breedon Aggregates Highland League Cup with a tremendous 2-1 win against Fraserburgh at Bellslea Park. It’s the first time the Scorries have made the second round of the HL Cup since season 2008-09.
Steven Anderson opened the scoring in the 26th minute and Richard Macadie converted from the penalty spot just after the hour mark to give Academy a two goal cushion. Graham Johnston pulled a goal back for the Broch 10 minutes later. Bryan Hay picked up second booking 12 minutes before full-time leaving Fraserburgh to finish the game with only 10 men and Academy held on to claim the victory.
Academy’s reward is a home tie against current Cup Holders Clachnacuddin. That game is scheduled to be played on the 28th February.
