Academy’s run of 14 league games without defeat was broken today by visitors Turriff United. A bumper Harmsworth Park crowd of over 600 witnessed a cracking match. It was Alan Farquhar’s 200th competitive appearance for the club.
An Andrew Macaskill shot in the 10th minute which sneaked in at James More’s left hand post opening the scoring for the visitors.
Davie Allan levelled 12 minutes from half-time to send the sides in at the break all square.
Gary McGowan put Turriff back in front before substitute Steven Anderson swept home a Sam Mackay cross to restore parity.
Davie Allan then broke through and kept his cool to put Academy ahead for the first time in the game, but Turriff just as they did in the game down in The Haughs, scored twice in the last few minutes to pinch the points. Aaron McKenna drew them level and a last minute winner by substitute Gary Harris broke Academy hearts.
The result sees Turriff overtake us into 2nd spot with Brora who won today going top.
