The home side created the first chance of the second half.
Graeme Rodger played a defence splitting pass down the right channel into Philip
Watt. He took a touch and then got a low daisy cutting shot on target that was
saved by More and the Academy defence cleared the loose ball.

Sam Mackay came on for Anderson who looked as if he'd taken
a knock.

Craig Simpson got booked for Vale and substitute Mackay
crashed his free-kick attempt off the Vale wall.

Academy kept on the hunt for the elusive first goal. James
Pickles knocked down a cross from the left flank to the feet of Davie Allan at
the edge of the Vale box. He took a touch to set himself before drilling in a
shot that keeper McConnachie spilled but gathered at the second attempt.

Academy came close again when a corner on the left from
Richard Macadie found the head of Geruzel but keeper McConnachie parried it
away. That was the last action of the game for Geruzel as he was substituted shortly
afterwards for Gary Weir.

On 79 minutes Craig Simpson picked up his second booking of
the game and the home side were down to 10 men.

With 9 minutes left to play referee David Watt awarded a
penalty kick to Academy when keeper McConnachie was adjudged to have fouled
Davie Allan after the Academy striker had collected a pass from his brother
Ross. The Deveronvale players disputed the decision and Ross Aitken was booked
in the process. Several minutes passed before Richard Macadie was able to take
the penalty but he kept his cool and although McConnachie got a hand to the
ball he couldn't keep it out and Macadie clocked up his 4th goal in
the last 4 games.

0 – 1

Vale almost snatched a point in the last minute of the game when
a 30 yard free kick attempt from Stuart Leslie flashed just wide of target.
