Academy dumped out of Highland League Cup by Lossiemouth
Highland League Cup – 1st Round
Wick Academy 0 – Lossiemouth 2
In blustery conditions Lossiemouth got the better of Wick
Academy and took the lead in the 50th minute when Elliot Winters ran
on a through ball to net. Scott Dunn made sure of the result when he netted a
penalty in stoppage time.
Buckie Thistle 1 – Cove Rangers 1
Cove took the lead away to Buckie when Jonathan Smith netted
from the spot. Darren Wood equalised for Buckie with a header which ensured the
game went to extra time and penalties. Mark Perry missed the vital penalty for
Cove which meant that it was Buckie who progressed to the next round.
Nairn County 5 – Turriff United 0
Conor Gethins gave Nairn the lead in the 11th
minute at home to Turriff when he headed home a corner. Robbie Duncanson netted
in the 24th minute from 25 yards. Archie MacPhee added a third when
he cut in from the left to net. Martin MacDonald made it 4-0 in the 71st
minute when he stabbed home before Gethins completed the scoring in the 84th
minute.
Keith 0 – Rothes 1
Rothes got the better of Keith at Kynoch Park thanks to goal
from sub Liam Forbes in the 87th minute, this was enough to ensure
the Speysiders progressed into the next round.
Huntly 3 – Fraserburgh 2 AET
Huntly and Fraserburgh were all square after 90 minutes so
the game went into extra time. David Booth opened the scoring for Huntly in the
2nd minute of extra time. Willie West equalised three minutes later
with a header. Marek Madle put Huntly back in front just after the restart.
Scott Barbour equalised in the 114th minute but Madle scored the
winner with four minutes of extra time remaining.
Fort William 1 – Forres Mechanics 4
Forres took the lead away to Fort William after only 80
seconds when Stuart Soane netted from 25 yards. Darren Quigg got Fort back
level from the penalty spot. Kyle Scott put Forres abck in front when he
controlled a Soane cross before netting. Soane added his second and Forres
third from the penalty spot before Scott Lawrie completed the scoring with a
long range effort.
Strathspey Thistle 0 – Inverurie Locos 4
Inverurie took the lead away to Strathspey in the 16th
minute when Neil Gauld was on hand to fire past the keeper. Gauld added his
second in the 32nd minute. Dean Donaldson just before half-time.
Gauld completed the scoring just before the hour to grab his hat-trick.
Highland League
Deveronvale 0 – Brora Rangers 0
In the league Deveronvale and Brora shared the spoils. The
Vale had a great chance to take the lead in the 32nd minute but
Colin Charlesworth saw his penalty kick saved.
Formartine United 3 – Clachnacuddin 1
Formartine got the better of Clach and took the lead just
before half-time thanks to a close range finish from Stuart Anderson. Just after
the restart Daniel Park made it 2-0 with a long ranges finish. Cammy Keith
added a third in the 66th minute when he beat the offside trap to
net. Martin Laing scored a consolation for Clach with 11 minutes remaining.
