Christmas came early for Deveronvale at Harmsworth Park
today as Academy gifted them their two opening goals.
A short back-pass by
Grant Steven after 5 minutes allowed Craig Cowie to charge down Michael Gray's attempted clearance and he fire into an empty goal.
Alan Farquhar did track back and tried to clear it off the line, but he couldn't
stop it finding the back of the net.
Academy levelled when Alan Farquhar headed
home from a free kick, but again they gifted the visitors another goal 6 minutes later when
the ball was lost at the back and Cowie set up Graeme Rodger for a tap in.
The
visitors went 3 up 6 minutes into the second half. A free kick 40 yards from
goal was taken by Ross Aitken. He fired it high into the area where it cleared everyone
and dipped under the cross-bar into the top right hand corner of Gray's net.
Academy did pull a goal back a minute later through Richard Macadie but couldn't
rally a fight-back and Vale took the spoils.
