Horne was the busier of the two keepers and before the
half-time break he was forced into a good save to deny James Pickles.

Half Time – Rothes 0 – Wick Academy 3

Rothes didn't give up and kept trying to play their
football, but Weir put the game beyond their reach just after the hour mark
when he bagged his hat-trick. He was slipped the ball and drove down the right hand
channel of the 18 yard box. The Rothes defence came to meet him, but Weir
turned inside them and cool as you like he fired a left foot shot inside the
Horne's left hand post from about 14 yards out.

0 – 4

Weir was replaced by Lukasz Geruzel a few minutes later and
the big Polish striker got himself involved from the off. He picked the ball up
on the right wing, showed his strength to turn his marker and he cut it back across
goal for James Pickles to slam the ball down the centre of the goal.

0 – 5

Within a minute the ball was played down the right hand
flank to Geruzel and he again turn provider as he twisted and turned and got
past his marker. He cut the ball back square laying it on a plate for Sam Mackay
who fired it down the middle of the net.

0 – 6

Academy were not finished and 10 minutes from full-time
Geruzel bagged a goal of his own. The move started in the Academy half when
Rothes created their best chance of the game. Andrew Corbett was played into
the Academy box. Michael Gray came out to meet him but Corbett went around him
and fired the ball towards goal but Michael Steven tracked back and cleared the
ball off the line. From this the ball was played up the left flank to Davie
Allan who hit the after-burners and breezed past two defenders before crossing into the box and Geruzel got
to the ball just in front of Richard Macadie to fire the ball inside the keeper's
right hand post from 10 yards out.

0 – 7

That concluded the scoring giving Academy an amazing 28
goals scored and only 2 conceded in seven league games. The win keeps the
