Huntly packed the mid-field and
a period of 10 or so minutes saw both sides huff and puff without threatening
either goal.

Michael Steven set up Academy's
next chance when he had a push forward up the right wing and flashed a wicked
cross across the face of the Huntly goal but Lukasz Geruzel was not able to get
onto the end of it.

On 23 minutes Macadie slid a
pass into Geruzel who got a good effort on target that keeper Barney got down
to it and pushed the ball around his post for a corner.

Huntly struggled to get past
the Academy back-line but just before the half-hour David Booth fired a great
cross into the Academy box that Paul McCarthy just failed to get his head onto.

Davie Allan was causing Huntly
all sorts of problems with his pace and on another rampaging run looked to be
pulled back by Michael Clark. Referee Douglass Ross however gave the free-kick
to Huntly and Allan took his protests a step too far and was booked for his
troubles.

McCarthy at the other end had a
weak shot saved by Michael Gray, before both Macadie and Cunningham had efforts
blocked by keeper Barney and Grant Campbell at the other end.

Academy kept pressing and
Macadie crossed from the flank for Michael Steven but he lifted his shot over
the cross-bar.

Slack play in the Academy
defense saw McCarthy nick the ball but he pulled his shot past the outside of
Gray's right hand post.

Two minutes from the break
Macadie almost got his second goal with a great bit of skill. James Pickles floated a high ball over the
Huntly defense for Macadie who took it down, sold his markers a dummy and then
flicked in a shot that smacked off the outside of Barney's left hand post.

In the final action of the
first-half Academy doubled their lead. Macadie gained ground up the right wing and crossed to Geruzel who had a simple tap-in at the
far-post from 4 yards out. Huntly protested as they thought there was an off-side, but the goal stood.

Half Time – Wick Academy
2 – Huntly 0

Dave McGinlay made two changes
at the start of the second half. Marek Malde and Alexander Thoirs coming on for
Russell Guild and Andrzej Kleczkowski.

Macadie set up Geruzel for another shot but the big
Polish striker screwed his effort past the outside of the post.

On the hour
Academy doubled their
lead. Davie Allan was released with room to run into. Keeper Barney sprinted
off his line and collided with Allan just outside the box but the ball fell to
Geruzel and he had the simplest of finishes sticking the ball into the empty
net.

3 – 0

15 minutes before full-time
Academy scored their 4th. Pickles slid the ball to Sam Mackay on the
left side of the Huntly penalty box. Mackay kept his cool to round keeper
Barney and he slotted home with his left foot from a tight angle.

4 – 0

Lukasz Jarosiewicz came on for Huntly and he had a couple
of half-chances before the full-time whistle, one of which Gray got down well
to pushing the attempt for a corner.
