Last kick of the ball saw Macadie flash a wicked shot across the face of the Locos goal but there were no takers to send it home.
Half Time – Inverurie Locos 1 – Wick Academy 0
The first chance of the second half fell to the home side. A long kick-out from Andy Reid fell to Gauld who turned and laid the ball off to Craig Ross, but he fired straight to More.
A minute later Sam Mackay picked the ball up in mid-field and he drove at the Locos defence but his 25 yard drive went just over the target with he keep scrambling along his line.
On 51 minutes Academy came close to levelling the scores. Davie Allan flew up the left flank, played it into Macadie who collected the ball, took a step to his left and curled a shot that was bound for the top right hand corner but keeper Reid somehow managed to get a hand to it and he tipped it over the top for a corner.
Down the other end Gauld outpaced Grant Steven and More saved his low shot with his feet. The ball looped up and looked as if it would drop for Mackay, but it took a weird bounce and Academy cleared their lines.
On the hour Academy should have equalised. Sam Mackay played Davie Allan in behind the Locos defence. He evaded a tackle, hit the bye-line and cut it back across the 6 yard line for Macadie who fired wide of target when it looked easier to score.
Two more chances in the space of a minute for Academy. Cunningham lobbed the Locos defence for Davie Allan to run onto the ball and go one-on-one with keeper Reid, but the normally composed Allan looked to have shot too early and fired the attempt straight at the keeper.
Davie Allan then sent Cunningham on the attack. He knocked it to Macadie who in turn laid on the advancing Shaun Sinclair who took a touch but shot high and wide of target.
On 67 minutes Barry Wilson rolls the dice when he takes off Shaun Sinclair and Gary Manson for James Pickles and Lukasz Geruzel. Craig Shearer goes to centre half and we play 3 at the back.
73 minutes and Academy spurn yet another great chance. Davie Allan played a cross-field ball to Macadie on the 18 yard line and under no pressure Macadie blasted his shot just over the target.
Academy just can't get the ball in the net! Cunningham played a diagonal ball into the box. Keeper Reid came for it but collided with his own defender and Shearer headed the ball on. Geruzel was in the mix and he stabbed the ball towards goal but it was cleared off the line for a corner.
Locos also make a double change with Gauld and Mackay coming off for Jack Strachan and Scott Begg.
On 78 minutes Locos hit with a sucker-punch. Substitute Jack Strachan played a one-two with Marc Young up the right wing. Young crossed into the box where More and Scott Begg both came for the ball but missed it and it fell to John Maitland who stuck it home.

Academy craft another chance when Pickles took a throw-in to Geruzel who teed up Macadie but he screwed his shot wide of target.
