Cove drop points to Keith & Clach move up to second

There
were 6 midweek games played. On Tuesday night Current leaders Cove Rangers
welcomed Keith. A second half recovery by Keith earned them a great 2-2 draw
after Cove went into a 2 goal lead. Cove opened the scoring on the quarter-hour
when Jamie Beagrie netted with an 18 yard shot, and 15 minutes later Beagrie
bagged his second to give Cove a commanding lead. Keith however battled away
and mid-way through the second half pulled one back with a stunning 35 yard
free-kick from Jonathan Smith. Nine minutes from full-time Keith levelled to
earn a point with Craig Macaskill rifling home a first time shot. The point for
Cove increased their lead over Academy to 4 points.

On
Wednesday night an impressive 3-1 win by Clachnacuddin at Inverurie Locos moved
them up to second spot in the league, dropping us to third. Goalless at half
time the game changed 7 minutes into the second half when sharp-shooter Gordie
Morrison swivelled on the ball and fired it under the body of advancing keeper
Andy Reid. Locos levelled on 66 minutes when Neil Gauld scored with a glancing
header. Clach however went on to claim a vital win to boost their championship
aspirations when they scored 2 goals in as many minutes.  Scott Graham headed home off the underside of
the cross-bar from a Sam Urquhart cross, and Paul Brindle then sealed the
points after running through the Locos defence, rounded keeper Reid and tapping
home.

Formartine
also kept their title challenge going with a 4-1 win away to Nairn County at
Station Park. Goals from Daniel Park, Ross Campbell and a Michael Ewen double
secured the points for the visitors, and although Connor Gethins had pulled
back a goal with the score at 2-0 with a stunning 30 yard volley, it wasn't
enough to halt Formartine's title charge. They are now closing in on the
leaders with games still in hand.

Brora
travelled to Fort William and took the lead in the 15th minute when Andrew
Grieg rounded keeper Kyle Robertson to slam the ball into an empty net. The
home side fought back and levelled the scores when ex-Academy mid-fielder Gary
Farquhar split the Brora defence with a inch-perfect pass allowing Sean Grant a
clear run at goal and he converted the opportunity. Brora took control on the
hour mark when Ross Tokely poked home a free kick at the far post, and Brora
then went on to score 2 more through Steve Mackay, and Ben Bruce, before Mackay
converted his second of the game to make the final score 1-5.

Turriff
welcomed Deveronvale and the home side took the lead 10 minutes before
half-time when Harris headed home. A Craig Morrison goal in first-half injury
time took Vale level, but Turriff scored the winner 15 minutes from full-time
when Robbie Allan netted to make the final score 2-1.

Buckie's
poor season continued when they lost 2-0 at Fraserburgh.  A 21st minute goal from Peter Bruce looked to
be the only goal of the game, but Bruce netted again in the last minute of the
match to make sure of the 3 points for Fraserburgh.
