Academy draw with Formartine in a 6 goal thriller

Wick
Academy seemed certain to end United's 100% home league record after an
opportunist hat-trick from David Allan which took his seasonal tally to 12
goals in the space of the opening 12 minutes. But United were not to be denied
and came roaring back to earn a point from a thrilling match that ended 3 goals
apiece. Allan opened the scoring after only 4 minutes when Macadie lofted the
ball over the home defence and Allan rounded keeper Andy Shearer and tapped
home. The goal was Academy's 100th this season in all competitions. 4 minutes
later Macadie and Allan combined again, Macadie cutting in from the right and
Allan's pace got him to the ball and he finished in style. The hat-trick came
in the 12th minute as Academy rocked the home side, this time Michael Steven
turned provider and Allan swept the ball home with a first time strike. Weir
missed a gilt-edged chance to extend the lead even further, but the home side
pulled one back in first-half injury time when Callum Bagshaw smashed home
after a Stuart Soane shot had been blocked by More. On the hour the home side
pulled back another when More hesitated to clear a bouncing ball in the Academy
penalty area and Michael Ewen nipped in and slotted home into an empty net. 2
minutes later the scores were level when Michael Bagshaw got just enough on the
ball to send it over the line. Formartine had a shout for penalty in the dying
stages and Macadie had an attempt that he fired over the cross bar in the last
action of a pulsating match, final score
3-3.

League
leaders Cove Rangers increased their lead to 3 points with a great 2-0 win at
Mosset Park. Cove took the lead mid-way through the first half when Martin
Johnston ran onto a Jordan Leyden pass to slot home. The points were secured
when substitute Ryan Scott volleyed home a Connor Scully cross.

Deveronvale
welcomed Clachnacuddin and they shared a 1-1 draw.  Clach were first to draw blood when Scott
Graham fired home a Alan Pollock corner. The home side then levelled the scores
after 25 minutes when Craig Morrison netted with a close range volley.

Nairn
County travelled to Turriff and kept themselves in the mix with a 2-0 win.  Nairn had many regulars missing, but went
ahead in the 5th minute when Webb headed home a Naismith free kick. 5 minutes
into the second half the visitors sealed the win when a mix-up between Stephen
Coutts and Lewis Davidson allowed Connor Gethins to knock home with an easy
finish.

Inverurie
Locos got themselves back to winning ways, following two defeats, with a 3-1
win over Lossiemouth. It took until the hour mark for the opening goal to come,
when John Maitland, returning from an injury, smoked a 20 yard drive past
keeper Errol Watson. 2 minutes later Andy Low rifled low into the corner of the
net from the corner of the penalty area, and the 3rd came when Gordon Forsyth
headed home from a corner, his first goal for the Locos. Lossiemouth did get a
consolation back when Scott McIntosh lobbed keeper Reid, but it was too little
too late.

Huntly
have not had the best of seasons, but an improved performance saw them share a
1-1 draw with visitors Brora. Huntly opened the scoring on the half hour when a
Neil Davidson shot from 20 yards found the net. That looked to have been enough
to win the game, but Brora were awarded a controversial penalty just 3 minutes
from full-time. Zander Sutherland looked to have handled the ball with his back
to goal in the Huntly penalty area, but referee Potten adjudged Michael Clark
to have been the guilty party and Sutherland converted the spot-kick.

Ex-Academy
mid-fielder Gary Farquhar gave Fort William the early lead against visitors
Buckie Thistle, but Dean Donaldson slotted home a penalty to equalise for
Buckie after Fort keeper Kyle Robertson brought down Jordan Sutherland. Buckie
then went into over-drive and ran out easy winners with further goals from
Mackinnon, Donaldson netting 2 more for his hat-trick, and a Shewen lob.

Strugglers
Strathspey were beaten 1-0 by Keith, the winner coming from striker Cammy Keith
in the 75th minute.

Fraserburgh kept a rare clean sheet in their trip to
Rothes, two first half goals from Scott Barbour enough to give Kris Hunter's
side a 2-0 win.
