Sam and Davie Sign Contract Extensions
Gordon Connelly Joins Coaching Staff
Wick Academy FC is delighted
to confirm that our Captain Sam Mackay and striker Davie Allan have agreed to
pledge their future to the club by signing extensions to their current
contracts. Sam has signed a 4 year extension and Davie has signed a 2 year extension to their
contracts.
Both Sam and Davie have played an
integral part in the club's continued development on the field and therefore
the Club are delighted with the outcome. They, along with their fellow team
mates have shown great commitment to the club over the years and we see them
and their team mates as being pivotal to this club in its continued development
on the park and these new improved contract extensions are a reward for their
hard work and loyalty to the club.
Club Secretary Alan Farquhar
comments, "We as a Committee have put a lot of hard work in behind the scenes
in developing this club on and off the park and we will continue to do the best
for the club and our loyal supporters and hopefully these new contracts
emphasises this commitment to the cause".
The Club is also delighted
to announce that Gordon Connelly has joined us as a coach. Gordon played for Academy
during season 1997/98, making 36 competitive appearances and scoring 15 goals.
He was playermanager at Forres, had a short period at Brora and also coached
at Ross County.
Manager Barry Wilson is
delighted with the news stating, "I am delighted that both Sam and Davie have agreed to
extend their contracts with us. It's important that we keep our best players at
the Club as it gives us the stability we need in order to progress. Almost all
of the players are now on long term contracts however there are a few of the boys
who's contracts are also coming up, so I'll be aiming to talk to them all over
the next few weeks to also see if I can get them sorted with similar
extensions.
As far as Gordon is
concerned, I've known him for a number of years and he's a great coach. Both
myself and Tichie are delighted that he's agreed to come and join us".
