Locos open the scoring with a break-away goal in the 36th
minute. Academy had won a free-kick in the Locos half which was floated into
the box but cleared out to Marc Young. He sent Neil Gauld off on a run and he
broke the Academy back line before slotting to Clark Bain who went one-on-one
with Gray and he fired home from 7 yards out.

Half Time 1- 0

In 52 minutes Academy have a good attacking move. Sam Mackay
picked the ball up in the centre circle and threaded an inch-perfect pass
through the middle of the Locos defence to Stevie Cunningham. He and keeper
Andy Reid converged on the ball and Reid got his toe to it to clear the danger.

2 minutes later Locos doubled their advantage. The ball was
being played ping pong at the edge of the Academy box and Marc Young sent a
speculative looping header towards goal. Gray was a yard off his line and
back-pedaling he got finger tips to the ball but it fell into the net.

2 – 0

66 minutes and Academy make a double substitution. Ross Allan
and Bryan McKiddie come on for Richard Macadie and Gary Weir. Locos also make a
change, Andy Low coming on for Scott Begg.

81 minutes and Stewart Ross is booked. The ball breaks off
the referees ankle and fell kindly to John Maitland who broke into the Academy half where he was pulled back by Ross.

With 5 minutes left Gray pulls off a good save getting down
sharply to block a Clark Bain shot at a tight angle from the Locos right hand flank.

In the last minute of the game Locos won a free-kick 25
yards from goal. Substitute Andy Low stepped up and curled it beautifully round the wall and into the top
corner to seal a good win for the home side.

This was a tight game with little between the teams despite the scoreline. Apart from the goals, neither keeper was troubled too much and both sets of players were reasonably evenly matched.

Locos will be out next home game on the 7th of April when we welcome them to Harmsworth Park for a back-to-back encounter where we will see if home advantage will favour the Scorries.

In the battle for the league title it's advantage to Forres who beat Brora 4-1 whilst their nearest challengers Cove were held to a 1-1 draw by Clach. Forres now have a 9 point lead at the top of the table, but Cove still have a game in hand.
