It took
Academy 21 minutes to get a decent attempt on target. Weir teed the ball up for
Macadie and he powered a right foot shot on target but keeper McKenzie gathered
the ball with a comfortable save.
In the last
action of the first half Davie
Allan was booked for puling back Alan Redford.
Half time 0 – 0
As the
teams took the park for the second half thick
fog rolled in over the park and the floodlights were turned on.
Cove again
started with the better goal scoring chances. Martin Johnson had a shot
deflected for a corner and Roddy Black a drive that Gray got his body behind
for a comfortable save.
Academy started
to get more of the ball and with 65 minutes played Davie Allan worked some room
on the edge of the Cove box and got a shot off but it went just over the top of
the cross-bar.
Academy
opened the scoring in the next attack. Davie Allan powered onto a diagonal ball
played over the top of the Cove back line. He took the ball into the box and
with keeper McKenzie coming out to narrow the angle Allan picked his spot and
drove the ball low into the corner of the net from 18 yards out for his 17th
league goal of the season.

This set up
a tense end to the game. Cove manager Tindal committed all three substitutes and with 5
minutes left the visitors squared the scores after a period of good pressure.
The ball was played into the Academy box and Gray did well to get down to his
left and block a shot that came through a ruck of bodies but substitute Ryan
Scott was first to the loose ball and he swivelled and struck the ball on the
half volley into an empty net.
1 – 1
The Cove
tails were up and they pushed for the win but Academy snuffed out 4 or 5 final
attacking moves to wind down the clock and win a share of the points.
