David Allan again raced up the wing, got a yard on his
marker and fired the ball across goal. Gary Weir got his head to the ball but
his flashing header went wide of the target.
With 20 minutes played Paul Napier cut in from the right flank and
curled a great attempt at goal that clipped off the top of the Academy
cross-bar.
A minute later David Allan hit the burners and raced into the Buckie box. Keeper Kevin
Main came out and forced him wide, but Allan got around him and crossed the
ball. The Buckie back line failed to clear and it fell to Richard Macadie but
he fired wide of target.
In the 22nd minute Buckie were forced into making
a change when Shawn Scott pulled up injured and he was replaced by live-wire
Scott Davidson.
Academy opened the scoring in the 26th minute.
David Allan again drove up the right flank and crossed into the box where Sam
Mackay collected and slotted home past Main
from 6 yards out.
1 – 0
Buckie leveled the scores 3 minutes later. The ball was
punted into the Academy half and was half cleared before falling to Zander
Sutherland about 30 yards from goal and he showed great skill hitting it on the
half-volley and lobbing it over the head of Bokas who was off his line.
1 – 1
Buckie came close to taking the lead a few minutes later. Paul Napier was
getting too much space on the right wing and he again went on a surging run,
cut inside the box and sent a dangerous cross into the box. Grant Steven
provided the cover and he looked to have got the ball caught under his feet,
but did well to recover and cleared the danger.
Academy finished the half with two good attacking moves. David Allan crossed
into the box and Sam Mackay got his head to the ball and it looked bound for the bottom
corner but keeper Kevin Main got down well and turned it wide of his
right post.
The final action of the half saw Gary Weir flick the ball onto Sam Mackay
who ran through on goal. Kevin Main came out to meet him and Mackay tried to
nick the ball over him but it smacked Main in
the face and the ball was cleared down-field
by Lewis MacKinnon.
Half Time 1 – 1
3 minutes after the re-start Buckie were reduced to 10 men. Gary Weir chased
a high bouncing ball through the middle of the Buckie defence and was impeded
by Michael Morrison and both men landed on the floor. Referee Lyon deemed Morrison to be the last man and guilty of denying a clear goal scoring attempt and he
flashed the red card at him.
From the resulting free kick the Jags keeper Kevin Main went air-born and
turned Richard Macadie's free kick attempt over the cross-bar for a corner with a great one-handed save.
A great flowing move gave Academy the lead in the 53rd minute.
Mackay and Macadie linked up well at the edge of the Buckie box before Macadie
slipped in Cunningham and he slotted the ball past an out-stretched Main.
2 – 1
Weir was next to have a crack at the Buckie goal when he lashed a 25 yard
volley off his lacers but it shaved the outside of Main's left hand post.
Buckie although down to 10 men were not out of the game and almost sneaked
an equalizer when substitute Davidson latched onto a ball that bounced between
Alan Farquhar and Grant Steven, but Steven recovered well and snuffed out the
attack.
The play raged back down-field and Main was
again on hand to keep the Scorries at bay. Weir wriggled past his markers and
got a shot on target that took a flick off a defender and wrong footed Main, but he Buckie keeper did very well to stick out a
foot and clear the ball.
Academy sealed the game with their 3rd goal in 71st
minute. Weir showed great fighting spirit scrapping for a lost ball at the edge
of the Buckie box and he marched into the penalty area with ball at feet before sliding
a pass to David Allan at the back post and he took it on the run and hammered
it high into the net.
3 – 1
At the other end Zander Sutherland had a half chance to pull a goal back,
but he couldn't keep a 20 yard shot down and the ball flew harmlessly over
Bokas's cross-bar.
The last action of the game saw keeper Main again called into action for his
3rd or 4th really good save of the game as Weir was threaded through
the middle by David Allan an he went one-on-one with Main but the Jags keeper
stayed big and pulled off another good stop.
Full time 3 – 1
Academy now have two way games on the spin, away to
Strathspey Thistle and then Rothes.
