managersIn the Scottish Cup they lead the team on the longest
recorded trip away to Kircudbright in season 2008-09 where we beat St
Cuthbert Wanderers 3-0 to reach the 2nd round. They are pictured shortly
before leaving for that game. Then in season 2009-10 they master-minded
a 4 – 1 win away to Girvan, and who can forget the next 3rd round tie at
home to
Brechin City when we almost pulled off the result of the century in
front of a
1,200 crowd, but Brechin pulled back 2 late goals to take the tie back down
to
Glebe Park for a replay where we gave a great account of ourselves but lost out by 4 goals to 2.

Another game that lives long in the memory includes
the visit of Cove Rangers in October 2010 when the football played that day was
classy on the eye and we trounced the then league leaders by 4 goals to 1. The
accolades continue and you have to give credit for the famous ten wins in a row
in 2009. No Academy team had gone beyond three straight wins until this and as
far as we can tell from the records held this winning streak stands as a league
record. A record club 5th place finish in season 2008/09, and the crowning of
managers of the year in that season adds to an impressive CV.

This season they took the Club to our first Cup Final where we faced Forres Mechanics in the North of Scotland Cup. That game was played in Brora and over 1,000 Academy supporters congregated at Dudgeon Park turning it into a sea of black and white. Forres took a 3-0 lead into the half-time break and the game looked over, but Academy roared back into the game in the second half scoring 2 goals to set up a tense final few minutes, but unfortunately we narrowly failed to take the game into extra time.

Tichie and Zeeky have ended their spell in charge with 3 wins on the spin including 3 clean
sheets and two of our highest recorded away league wins with a 5-0 result at
Lossiemouth, and we matched that score-line yesterday at Rothes.

Academy
Chairman Colin Stewart has this to say about them,

"Tichie
and Zeeky have been tireless servants to the Club both in their time as players
and managers. People don't appreciate
the dedication required between training twice a week, playing either home or
away every Saturday, and on every other night of the week dealing with player
issues etc. They should be tremendously proud of what they have achieved with
Wick Academy Football Club. Their record stands before them and it has been a
pleasure to have worked with them. Everyone at the Club wishes them and their
families the very best for the future, and we hope that they can continue to be
involved with Academy in some way going forward".
