There was a familiar pattern to the scoring as Academy drew
first blood at Kynoch Park but came home empty-handed as Keith maintained their
title push with a 3-1 win.

It was the third meeting of these two teams in six weeks,
and in all three encounters the Scorries have scored first – only to end up
with two league defeats and a cup exit on penalties.

Academy grabbed a well-merited lead after 41 minutes. David
Allan cut the ball back to Gary Weir and the striker placed a fine curling shot
into the bottom corner of the net, giving Andy Shearer no chance.

Half Time 0 – 1

Keith got themselves level in the 62nd minute when Jonathan
Smith powered the ball home after being set up by Sean Keith.

The home side forged in front after 70 minutes when Jamie
Lennox played the ball through to the league's top scorer, Cammy Keith, who
knocked it past Alan Bokas.

Five minutes later Smith added his second of the afternoon
to make the points safe.

Once again Academy had paid the price for failing to defend
a lead.

Full Time 3 – 1

This was the 10th competitive match of 2010/11 in which
Academy had been ahead but had ended up losing or drawing. Indeed, twice the
Scorries have surrendered 2-0 leads – losing 5-2 to Turriff and 5-3 to Keith –
and on two other occasions they have twice led during a match but have been
unable to hold on for a victory. These were against Brora (a 3-2 defeat) and
Clach (a 2-2 draw).
