Girvan are an Ayrshire junior club who play at Hamilton Park. Despite plying their trade in the
second tier of the West Region Juniors setup, Girvan are full members of the
SFA as well as the SJFA which allows them to compete in the senior Scottish Cup
every season.
They currently sit 10th in their 14-team league with nine points –
amassed through three wins – from their seven games so far this season. In the
first round of this season's Scottish Cup, they saw off Glasgow University
to set up this match against The Scorries.
Girvan have a 50/50 record against Highland League opponents since the all-in
Scottish Cup was introduced two seasons ago. In the first year of the
competition, they saw off Forres Mechanics in the first round with a 2-0 win
before going out to Huntly in round one last season thanks to a narrow 1-0 defeat
at Christie Park.
The guys know that they have a tough game ahead of them, but
fingers crossed we'll have our name in the third round draw, for the first time
in the clubs history, when it's made on Wednesday.
