The Lochaber men almost capitalised on some slack defensive play when a Manson pass-back was too short for More, but More did well in a foot-race to reach the ball to clear just before an on-rushing Simon Shields.

Fort's best chance of the half came in the 24th minute. Sean Ellis did well driving down the right wing before squaring a pass to Michael Gillespie inside the box but he fired his shot just wide and into the side-netting.

Half Time 1 – 0

Academy opened the second half exactly as they started the game with a chance within a minute of play. Shearer slipped a pass through the defence to Macadie but keeper MacLeod reacted quickly and came put of his area to clear the ball off Macadie's toes.

Weir followed that with a shot from 16 yards that went straight into the arms of keeper MacLeod.

By this stage the game was starting to fizzle out with nothing really clicking for either team, and co-managers Hughes and Munro made their first changes, with MacKenzie and Allan coming on for Cowie and Weir.

Most of the Fort attack by this stage was coming from long-range, mainly by Andrew Martin, but More was showing safe hands and easily snuffed out the chance of a knock-in from a rebound.

David Allan managed to make a good piercing run into the Fort box for the brief spell that he was on the park, but sadly he had to be substituted after only a 5 minute appearance when pulled up with an injury after tacking for a loose ball. He was replaced by Lamb, who took up a defensive role with Manson going up-front.

Substitute MacKenzie almost made an impact after a good run up the left wing. He cut inside the box skinning his defender and fired a shot at goal that smacked off the intersection between post and cross-bar.

Fort had a great chance to square the game in the 77th minute. They won a corner which was whipped into the Academy box and Michael Gillespie found himself free in the box but sent his header just wide of target.

4 minutes before time the Scorries gave themselves the all important two-goal cushion. MacKenzie had another burst up the wing and crossed into the box for Shearer who headed home on the run from 6 yards out.

2 – 0

Academy played the final few minutes with only 10 mean when Sinclair limped off with what looked like cramp, but Academy managed to keep possession and ran down the clock.

Final Score 2 – 0

The game wasn't the prettiest to watch with Academy not quite clicking, but some credit must be given to the Fort who worked hard to close down a lot of the Academy pass and movement. The main thing from today was the three points, and the win keeps the Scorries in 8th place with 27 points from their 19 games played.

Academy have a free-weekend on the 28th Feb, and then face an away trip to Lossiemouth on the 7th of March for a Foster Highland League Cup 1st round tie.
