With three minutes of the game left Lamb fouled Stephen and referee Cobb awarded a free-kick. Shearer and Stephen then had a mini-wrestling match for the ball, and Stephen pushed Shearer over. MacMillan ran 30 yards out of his net and got involved, again trying to get the ball and ended up pushing Morris. Cobb gave Stephen his second yellow of the game, and MacMillan a straight red.
In the last action of the game Wick almost salvaged an equaliser. Beagrie held back Weir on the half way line. Farquhar fired the free kick into the box and it was headed clear by the Broch defence before being fired back towards the back post where Weir and Shearer found themselves in the middle of a scramble for the ball but it was knocked wide of target for a bye-kick.
Full time 2 – 1
