It was Cowie though that supplied yet another cross from the right wing after driving to the by-line, and this time Shearer was on-hand to pick the ball up, take one touch forward and slotted home under the body of Thomson to restore the Scorries lead.
2 – 1
2 minutes from the break MacMillan dropped a high punt into the box from Main, and as Ralph pounced on the loose ball and was about to slot home Shaun Sinclair delivered a perfectly timed tackle to nick the ball off his toes.
Half Time 2 – 1
Weir was becoming a hand-full for the Fraserburgh defence and he came close to scoring again in the 54th minute as he collected a Manson free-kick, turned his defender but fired just wide of target.
The Scorries produced a great flowing attack in the 64th minute. McKiddie drove forward with the ball, passed to Shearer inside the Fraserburgh box, and he executed a neat back-flick to Weir, but he just couldn't get to the ball with the Broch defence all at sea.
MacMillan produced another fine save minutes later to again deny Gardner who smacked a shot on target with a half volley just outside the box, and MacMillan did well to tip it over the top of the cross-bar.
Academy scored their 3rd of the game in the 72nd minute. Cowie once more produced some good wing play to turn the Fraserburgh defence before crossing onto the box. The ball took a flick off Weir's head and fell to Macadie in the middle of the box and he rifled a right foot shot past a helpless Thomson.
3 – 1
So Academy comfortable and game over, no way as 5 minutes later Fraserburgh got themselves right back into the game. Hale pushed forward and cut in from the right wing with ball at feet. The Academy defence seemed to stand off him and he cut across their defensive line before finding a gap and he rocketed the ball home into MacMillan's right hand corner.
3 – 2
Academy had a strong appeal for a penalty kick minutes later as ball looked to come off the hand of McBride, but referee Fraser waved play-on.
Coghill came on for McKiddie with 4 left, and almost made an immediate impact as he threaded a pass through the middle of the Fraserburgh defence for Macadie to run onto. He looked as if he would repeat his last minute strike against Deveronvale, nut held his head in his hands as the he curled the ball past keeper Thomson, but it smacked off the post and straight back out for Thomson to collect.
The Scorries ran out the clock and this win leaves them with the same number of points and league position as last year. The two back-to back wins against strong opponents does however give the whole squad a great lift and hopefully confidence to take this onto next season.
