Wick Academy Football Club

January 2007 – Team and Club News

Saturday 27th January:
No rain through the night, so the Keith game is on.

Friday 26th January:
Another chapter of Academy history opens tomorrow, with our new management duo of Zeeky and Tichie taking charge of their first game. The pitch is fit for play as of tonight, so as long as it doesn’t rain through the night the game should be on. I’m sure that everyone will join with me in wishing them the best of luck. Gary Farquhar is still out with his ankle injury, and Gary Manson sits out the second of his 3 game suspension. Shaun Sinclair is available again after serving his one match suspension, and Martin Gunn will hopefully be back in the starting line-up. The boys are on a good run just now, having only lost one in their last 5 matches, so hopefully they can continue in this vein tomorrow.

Friday 19th January:
Local derby day tomorrow, and Peters last game in charge, so it’s got the makings of a thriller. Gary Manson and Shaun Sinclair have to sit-out their suspensions, and Gary Farquhar is still unavailable due to injury. Hopefully Martin Gunn will make the bench, as he continues his recovery. Let’s hope the boys can come away with a win, which would give Peter the perfect send-off.

Saturday 13th January:
No game today due to the heavy rain through the night resulting in a waterlogged pitch.

Friday 12th January:
There will be a pitch inspection tomorrow morning at 6:30am. If it doesn’t rain through the night the game should be on. Wick will be without the suspended Gary Manson and Shaun Sinclair. Gary farquhar is still doubtful due to injury, and Alex Lamb is ruled out due to work commitments. Some good news though, in that Martin Gunn will hopefully return to the bench as he continues to recover from his knee injury.

Thursday 11th January:
Gary Manson has picked up a 3 game match ban following his sending off in last Saturdays game against Forres. Shaun Sinclair has also been given a one game ban after being reported by the referee following an off the field incident after the full-time whistle. Both will be unavailable for the Cove game this weekend.

Friday 5th January:
Academy head for Mosset Park tomorrow for the second of their double header against Forres Mechanics. Forres will be still be smarting after Wicks late winner 2 weeks ago, so it’s set up to be a cracker. Wick will be without captain Martin Gunn, and Alex Lamb.
