Just kicked off at Cove, 0-0.

10 minutes gone – both sides have had a corner each, but as yet no clear chances at goal.

11 mins – Cove whip in a good cross ball and Bell makes a good save.

15 mins – Tindal has a bad tackle on Alex Lamb clattering him on the knee with a high tackle. Gary Manson pushes Tindal away and referee Cobb books Tindal for the foul, and Manson for the retaliation.

20 mins – Peter makes a change, Graeme Reid comes on for Alex Lamb who was still suffering from the Tindal tackle 5 minutes earlier.

21 mins – Cove go ahead – Craig MacMillan has a shot from 10 yards out and Bell makes a good saved but can only parry the ball to John Brown who strokes it home from close range.

1 – 0

A minute later David Cowie plays a through ball to Gary Weir who is clean through and one-on-one with the Cove keeper, but Pirie makes a good save with his legs.

Academy continue to push for the equaliser and in 23 mins Martin Gunn has a crack from 25 yards, but it goes straight into the arms of Pirie.

30 mins – The games is fast and furious but neither side are creating many more clean-cut chances.

41 Mins – referee Cobb awards Cove a very soft penalty, with Shaun Sinclair having the slightest of contact with Colin Milne in the Academy box. Keeper Bell looks to have made a comment on the refs decision, and is warned that if he does it again that he’ll be sent off. Colin Milne takes the penalty kick and scores.

2 – 0

Half Time 2 – 0

50 Mins – Cove have another good chance to increase their lead. Nicky Gordon gets a free header from a corner kick but puts it wide of Bells right hand post.

52 Mins – good link-up play between Gary Manson and Gary Farquhar. Farquhar plays Richard Macadie in on goal but Richard shoots wide.

53 Mins – Cove have another pot at goal, this time Colin Milne shoots high and wide from 20 yards out.

Academy are playing well and are still in the game, but it looks like a tough challange if they are to get anything out of it.

60 Mins – Cove push up-field and play a through ball to MacMillan who looks well off-side. The ball is whipped into the box and Andrew MacLeod does well to head a dangerous ball over the top of the Academy cross-bar for a corner. John Brown took the resulting corner kick and Craig MacMillan scored his second with a powerful header.

3 – 0

67 Mins – Gary Clark gets a booking for a back-heel kick at Martin Gunn 20 yards from goal. Clark is immediately substituted for Scott Paterson, but the lines-man stops Paterson coming on as he has a ring on a finger that isn’t taped up. The Cove bench work to sort this, but Cove are in the mean-time down to 10 men. Gary Farquhar takes the free kick which goes round the wall and Pirie makes a diving save to turn it round the post for a corner. Richard Macadie takes the corner which falls to Martin Gunn at the edge of the box, but Martin miss-hits his shot and Cove clear the danger.

Paterson is eventually allowed onto the field and Cove are back to full strength.

Cove make two substitutions in the 70th and 79th minutes. Gordon comes off for Coutts, and Milne for Robertson.

80 Mins – Cove put the game out of sight. A good crossed ball from the Cove substitute Robertson from about the Academy corner-flag sees Craig MacMillan rises unmarked in the box to head home his second.

4 – 0

82 Mins – Cove go nap. MacMillan played Keith Robertson into the edge of the Academy box. Robertson took it down with his chest, hit it on the volley, and the shot crept inside Bells right hand post.

5 – 0

Cove almost score again, but Bell makes a good save.

Peter makes two more changes with Martin Bain coming on for Gary Weir in 85 mins, and Stuart Sinclair coming on for Graeme Reid in 87 mins.

Cove play out the final few minutes, and referee Cobb blows for full-time.

Full-Time 5 – 0

So a disappointment for Academy, as that’s the second trip in a row to Allan Park where Cove have score 5 un-answered goals against us. Peter must pick the boys up now as we have a big game ahead of us next weekend with Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Qualifying cup, with a place in the Scottish Cup draw up for grabs. Buckie didn’t play today as they had a free weekend.
