September 2006 – Team and Club News

Friday 29th September:
It’s back to league business tomorrow with Clach the visitors to the Harmsworth park.Clach have had a good start to their season, currently sitting in 4th place in the league, so this will be a tough game. Last seasons league games both ended in draws, 3-3 at Grant Street and 0-0 at home. Clach however came second best in this years NOS cup game, when we beat them 3-2.

Sunday 24th September:
Academy under 19’s travelled to Invergordon today and won 3 – 0.

Friday 22nd September:
Academy set of tomorrow for Victoria Park Buckie for their SQ cup replay. The winners of this game will advance to the semi-final, where they will have a home tie against Keith on the 14th of October. The winning team also goes into the draw for the Scottish Cup proper. Good luck to the lads tomorrow. Keep watching the web site for news of the game as it happens.

Tuesday 19th September:
Academy had a bounce game tonight against Thurso with the score ending 1 – 1.

Friday 15th September:
Team news for tomorrow. David Mowat won’t be playing as he is away on holiday. As reported earlier Alex Lamb is injured, but Peter should have a full squad available otherwise.

Friday 15th September:
Neil Traill signed for the club today so will be able to provide cover for Alex Lamb.

Friday 15th September:
The boys trained last night and are preparing themselves for this weekends quarter final SQ cup clash with Buckie Thistle. News is that Buckie are travelling up today and staying tonight in Caithness.

Tuesday 12th September:
Alex Lamb has had some more tests done and the good news is that there are no broken bones in his knee. He still has however what looks like a nasty injury, with possible ligament damage, so he may be out of action for some weeks to come. Lets all wish Alex a speedy recovery.

Sunday 10th September:
Some bad news for Alex Lamb. He was taken off in yesterdays game against Cove after a bad tackle by Kevin Tindal. After a visit to hospital today it is suspected that he has a broken bone in his knee. Further tests are needed to confirm this, but it’s sad news for Alex as he’s been playing so well lately.

Saturday 9th September:
Academy Under-19’s are at home tommorrow to Alness in the Highland Youth League. Kick-off is at 2:00pm at the Harmsworth Park. [Update] Alness won 2-1.

Friday 8th September:
Academy are back to league business this weekend, with a trip to Cove Rangers at Allan Park. Craig Shearer has other commitments this weekend, Stewart Ross is doubtful due to an injury, but Graeme Reid trained with the team last night and should be available for selection. Captain Martin Gunn has been suffering with an abscess on a tooth, but it is hopeful that he will make the trip. Cove have had a good start this season winning 3 out of their 4 opening league games, and they have only conceded 2 goals, both in their opening game defeat to Clach.

Saturday 2nd September:
Just a reminder that renewal of club membership is due by the 30th of September 2006. The yearly renewal costs £20 for full membership, £5 for concessions and juniors.the Harmsworth Park.
