Wick Academy Football Club
August 2006 – Team and Club News
Wednesday 30th August:
Final preparations for Martin Gunns testimonial, which takes place this Saturday the 2nd September, are taking place this week. The Academy Committee have been working along side Martins Testimonial committee in organising the event, and hopefully a big crowd will turn out for the game. Please come along if you can, and show your appreciation for Martins contribution to the club.
Monday 28th August:
Academys next game in the Scottish Qualifying cup will be played on Saturday the 16th of September at the Harmsworth Park. Academy are this game away from going into the draw for the Scottish cup, so please come along and cheer the boys on. We should have been playing Brora at home that day, so this game will now be re-scheduled, date yet to be agreed.
Friday 25th August:
Graeme Reid is doubtful for tomorrows game due to a slight injury. Apart from that Peter should have a full squad available for selection. Locos are flying up for the game, as they did last year when they won 6-1. Lets hope we can reverse the score-line this time around. The winner of this game will go on to meet either Fort William or Buckie Thistle in the next round.
Tuesday 22nd August:
The first team squad are having a bounce game tonight against the under 19s. This is to get some match practice in after last weekends game being cancelled.
Saturday 19th August:
The team bus was in Brora when they got a call to say that the Forres game was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.
Friday 18th August:
Nigel MacKenzie has been released from the club. More details to follow shortly.
Friday 18th August:
Academy are away to Forres tomorrow. David Mowat and Alex Lamb are unavailable due to other commitments, and Gary Weir is in doubt after picking up a knock in training.
Monday 14th August:
Academy travel to Victoria Park Dingwall tonight to play Ross County in the Quarter final of the UMAX NOS Cup. Young keeper Daniel Bell will face a fitness test on his hand before the game, with Kevin McGee ready to play again if required. Apart from this Peter will have more or less the same squad available for selection that he had for last Saturdays Vale game.
Friday 11th August:
Academy entertain last seasons league champions tomorrow in a top of the table clash. Alex Lamb and David Cowie are away on holidays and Martin Bain has a groin injury.
Sunday 6th August:
Both Graeme Reid and Gary Manson clocked up apparance milestones yesterday in the game at Fort William. Greame made his 100th league appearance, whilst Gary notched up number 150. Well done to both players on their achievements.
Friday 4th August:
The date has now been agreed for Academys UMAX NOS Cup Quarter final tie with Ross County. The game will be played on Monday night the 14th August, at Victoria Park Dingwall. Kick off is 8:00pm. Lets see if we can get a good support down to the game to cheer the boys on.
Tuesday 3rd August:
Peter is on holiday, so Zeeky and Tichy take charge for this weekends trip to Fort William. Don is still injured, so young Daniel Bell continues between the sticks. Apart from Dons injury Acadamy have more or less a full squad available for selection.
