Wick Academy beat Golspie Sutherland tonight 2-0 in their first game in the NOS cup. Academy enjoyed most of the possession, but struggled really to capitalise against a hard working Golspie side. Half time saw the score at 0-0, but Jamie Mackenzie scored within a minute of the re-start to take a little of the pressure off the Academy side. Martin Gunn missed a penalty in the 71st minute, but Nigel Mackenzie sealed the game with his goal in 79 minutes.
Golspie had their chances in the game, and the sponsors man of the match was Golspies goal keeper Alan Boakas who had one particularly good save in the first half.
