Full Time – Forres 2 – WAFC 1. Half time was 0 -1, goal by Jamie Mackenzie.
A spritely Academy performance was rewarded with the wrong side of a 2-1 scoreline.
Academy played extremely well from the start, with Jamie MacKenzies presence evident from the start.
Indeed it was he who put Academy in front midway through the first half as he latched onto a loose bal in the area to score the opener.
To be fair Forres had some chances where it would have been easier to score – and then again so did WAFC.
At half-time, it was 1-0 to the visitors.
In the second half, Forres changed things around and it took Academy 20 or so minutes to react and adapt, by which time they were behind to a 6 yard effort at the back post and a superbly taken 25 yard free-kick.
From there on in though, WAFC played strongly and positively and again passed up some good chances with one in particular right at the death.
We knew WAFC were doing well as Steve Paterson was shouting at the ref for time up and he was desperate to see either full-time or a third for them.
