Wick Academy v Turriff United match summary
In this league match Wick Academy started off playing down the slope and threatened in the third minute when David Allan played Jack Henry one on one with the keeper but the keeper saved his shot at the expense of a corner, from the corner Henry couldn't direct his header on target. Academy came so close to taking the lead in the 14th minute, Ross Allan took a free kick from 25 yards and seen his effort come back off the crossbar. At this stage it was one way traffic and Gordon Macnab was next to threaten on 17 minutes when he cut the ball back onto his left foot inside the box but the keeper managed to save his shot. Wick Academy finally took the lead in the 42nd minute when Ross Allan was played in one on one with the keeper and he managed to hit the target. Turriff nearly equalised in first half stoppage time when a Jordan Cooper shot was deflected for a corner. Turriff got themselves back into the game in the 58th minute when Matthew McDonald headed a cross from the right wing into the bottom corner. Wick nearly retook the lead in the 68th minute when David Allan let fly from 25 yards and the keeper tipped his shot round the post. Murray Cormack went close for Turriff in the 75th minute when his shot from just outside the box went just past the post. Steven Anderson had a great chance in the 89th minute to win the game for Wick but his shot was deflected just wide for a corner.
