Wick Academy v Brora Rangers match summary

In the far north derby at Harmsworth park it was Brora who were first to threaten after five minutes, a Dale Gilespie free kick from the right found Colin Williamson but he couldn't direct his header on target. Brora took the lead in the 12th minute when a cross to the back post was headed down into the path of Andy Macrae who slotted the ball home. Tom Kelly had a chance to double Brora's lead midway through the first half when he got onto a ball in behind the Wick defence but his lob over the keeper went just past the post. Wick started to grow into the game and created a couple of chance in the last five minutes of the first half, the first came in the 41st minute when Brora failed to clear a corner and the fell to Sean Campbell who's left foot shot went just past the post. Two minutes later Ross Allan got to the by line and cut the ball back to David Allan but Allan's effort went just over the bar. Brora had the first clear cut chance of the second half in when a Gilespie free kick from 25 yards was saved by the keeper and the ball was cleared. Just after the hour Brora had a great chance to double their lead, a defence splitting pass found Andy Macrae who rounded the keeper but Brandon Sinclair got back to clear the ball off the line, from the resultant corner Andrew Hardwick cleared a shot off the line. In the last quarter Wick started to dominate the ball but unfortunately couldn't trouble the Brora rearguard.
