Torrential rain in Wick through the night put some doubt into the game going ahead, but yet again another fantastic effort from the Harmsworth ground staff and helpers saw grade one referee John McKendrick, taking charge if his first even Highland League fixture, giving the game the go-ahead. Unfortunately a double from Willie West helped secure a 3-1 win for the visitors, giving them their first win on the road for this season.
The visitors started in determine fashion and within 3 minutes Steven Main drove a shot on target that Allan Bokas got finger-tips to, turning it off the outside of the post for a corner.
4 minutes later poor defending saw Zak Conway with space to get a shot off and Bokas again took to the air to make a fine diving save.
It was 15 minutes before Academy finally managed to get out of their own half and have a credible attempt on goal. Richard Macadie slid Davie Allan up the flank and he crossed for Gary Weir who waited for the ball to drop but his strike flashed just past the post.
Academy took the lead against the run of play when Allan stormed into the Broch box and looked to have his heels clipped by Bryan Hay. Referee McKendrick had no hesitation in pointing to the spot and Stevie Cunningham slotted home the penalty sending keeper Paul Leask the wrong way. The goal was Cunningham's 6th in 4 games.
1 - 0
The visitors however leveled the scores in their next attack. A corner was fired into the Academy box and Willie West had a free run and headed home past Bokas from 5 yards out.
1 - 1
From the re-start Macadie fed the ball to Allan and he got his shot on target but keeper Leask made a solid save.
In the 27th minute Broch front-man Allan Hale lashed a wicked shot on goal which Bokas could only parry out and Grant Steven cleared the danger.
A minute later Fraserburgh took the lead. Slack defending again saw Allan Hale with space at the back post and he had time to take the ball down and hammer home.
1 - 2
In the last chance of the half Macadie had a long range pot at target but his attempt whistled just over the top of the cross bar.
Half time 1 - 2
2 minutes after the re-start the visitors increased their lead. Willie West drifted unmarked into the back post and got on the end of a crossed ball to side foot home.
1 - 3
Neither team managed to create much more in front of goal for the remainder of the second half. Cunningham had a neat chip on target which went just wide of the post. Davie Allan also had a great surging run to the bye line before cutting back into the box, but Bryan Hay was on hand to cut out the danger and clear for a corner.
In the final minute Allan had a repeat run and in an identical move substitute Jonathan Garden stepped in to cut out the cross as the Academy front-men lined up to tap home.
Full time 1 - 3
