Match Report

Martin Gunn misses this one after picking up an ankle injury in last weekends home game against Huntly. David Allan returns though after recovering from a flue bug.

Just kicked off with Academy playing in their red away top.

With only 4 minutes played Fraserburgh open the scoring with a controversial goal. The ball is crossed in from the right wing and Jamie Duguid fired home low under Bokas. The Academy defence is outraged and protest to referee Pirie as Duguid looked to be offside.

1 - 0

Academy get straight back into the game with a quarter-hour played. Richard Macadie drove up the right flank and delivered a dangerous cross into the box that Sam Mackay got onto the end of and his shot was deflected past keeper Leask from 6 yards out.

1 - 1

With 22 minutes played Charlie Duncan is forced to make a change as Marc Dickson picks up an injury. He is replaced with Scott Ritchie. Michael Stephen also had to come off for a few minutes with a blood injury, but managed to return to the fray.

The game has been pretty even so far.
10 minutes left to half time and the game has turned a bit scrappy. Academy have however been pressing in the Fraserburgh half and have forced several corners in the last 15 minutes or so.

5 minutes to go to half time and Academy come really close to taking the lead. Sam Mackay fired the ball across goal from 18 yards out and David Allan screams in at the back post and just can't get to the ball to knock it home.

Just before the half time interval Michael Stephen looked to have scored for Fraserburgh but Bokas made a great one-handed save to deny him and keep the scores level.

Half Time 1 - 1

The wind has picked in the second half in favour of Fraserburgh and Willie West takes advantage of it as he sends in a shot from 18 yards out with 5 minutes played, but Bokas makes a safe save.

Academy string together a good move when Craig Shearer advanced up the right flank, cut the ball in to Richard Macadie, who flicked it on to Sam Mackay 18 yards from goal, but just as he went to pull the trigger the ball was taken from his feet by a Broch defender.

Fraserburgh are hit with another injury with their goal scorer Jamie Duguid coming off for Robert Morrice.

Academy are managing to keep a good piece of posession and have yet another crack at target. Sam Mackay cut in from the left and got his shot on target but it was deflected off a Broch defender for a corner.

Michael Stephen looks the main threat from Fraserburgh and has a decent effort with 65 minutes on the clock when he managed to get a shot on target from a corner but he sent it straight into the arms of Bokas who was well positioned.

Fraserburgh make their final substitution with Jamie Beagrie coming off, and Jonathan Garden coming on. Academy also make a change, Stevie Cunningham coming on for Davie Cowie.

It's heating up and Broch come close with a shot that hits the under-side of the Academy cross bar before being cleared up-field.

Academy score 2 goals in the space of a minute. Richard Macadie started proceedings by getting onto the end of a long ball and he lashed it home with some style from 10 yards out.

1 - 2

Straight from the re-start Academy went on the attack again and David Allan marched through the Broch defence, went one-on-one with keeper Leask and slotted home.

1 - 3

With the game all but over Academy put the icing on the cake. The ball is worked down the right flank before being crossed into the Fraserburgh box and Richard Macadie bags his second of the game slotting home from 6 yards out.

1 - 4

Referee Pirie blows for full time and Academy beat Fraserburgh for the 1st time ever on their home patch.

Full Time 1 - 4

Manager's Programme Notes

"A fantastic result", enthused co-manager Richard Hughes, "We are absolutely delighted to come away from Bellslea Park with the three points."

Charlie Duncan said: "Both teams played good football. We dominated half an hour of the second half without scoring and then got hit three times through lack of concentration."
