Academy crafted the first chance of the game after only 2 minutes. The ball was played into Davie Allan on the edge of the Fort box. He laid it off to Steven Anderson but he lifted his shot onto the roof of the net.

The home side then had a great opportunity to take the lead. A cross from the right wing to the back post found Martin Munro inside the 6 yard box and his powerful downward header bounced back off the pitch and over the bar.
Academy opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Grant Steven played the ball into Marc MacGregor in the middle of the park. He sprayed it wide to Alan Hughes who drove forward up the right wing and crossed into the box. It found its way through to the feet of MacGregor and from 6 yards out he swept home with a right footed shot.

Both sides had further chances. Marc MacGregor had a 25 yard pop that went straight to keeper Robin Harvey and up the other end of the park Iain Foggo had an attempt from the edge of the box that went over the bar.
