Academy ended this season's campaign with a 3-0 win over visitors Strathspey Thistle. Craig Shearer started his 500th game for Academy in all competitions and he wore the captain's arm-band to mark the occasion.
Academy thrashed the Strathy Jags 9-2 earlier in the season but the Grantown Spey Side did anything but park the bus today, and made a good game out of it.
Indeed they had the better of the opening exchanges and had a shout for a penalty on the quarter hour when Gary Kerr and Sean McCarthy vied to be first to a long through ball but referee Graham Beaton saw nothing amiss as they came together.
Academy were slow out of the blocks but did take the lead midway through the first half with their first shot on target. Davie Allan's cross from the right wing found Gary Manson on the edge of the box and his sweet curling shot was out of reach of Steven Dunn and found the corner of the net.

Strathspey had two great chances to equalise before half time, first when Jack Maley's header was cleared off the line by Craig Shearer. The ball was punted away from danger but from 35 yards James McShane unleashed a fearsome drive which cannoned off the intersection of the post and crossbar.
Half Time - Wick Academy 1 - Strathspey Thistle 0
A minute after the interval Academy doubled their advantage when Sam Mackay ran on to a superb long ball from Richard Macadie and neatly chipped Dunn from six yards.
2 - 0
Academy then won a penalty when Allan was judged to have been brought down by the keeper and Macadie made no mistake from the penalty spot to make it 3-0 and claim the golden boot award for scoring 17 goals during the campaign.
3 - 0
There was controversy in the aftermath of the spot-kick when keeper Dunn picked the ball out of his net and kicked it straight into the face of Gary Weir, laying him out cold. A stramash involving both sets of players ensued, but after Weir came round referee Beaton thought the only disciplinary action required was to book Dunn.
Strathspey ended the game on 10 men when, midway through the second half, Kerr was sent off for a two-footed lunge on Grant Campbell.
Despite the extra man advantage, Wick failed to find any more goals but did come close 10 minutes from time when trialist John Pickles sent in a delightful long ball to the back post which found Weir, but the striker failed to find the target.
