Academy travelled to MacKessack Park today and blew Rothes away with 6 first half goals. The first goal was scored with only 23 seconds on the clock by Gary Weir, who went on to notch up a five goal haul. Lukasz Geruzel and Richard Macadie chipped in with the other two.
With Ross Allan out long term with a broken leg and Grant Steven unwell manager Gordon Connelly drafted in Stephen MacLean as a trialist and young Conor Cormack from the under 17's.
Academy opened the scoring before the clock had turned the first minute (23 seconds). Academy's trialist Stephen MacLean played the ball forward to Gary Weir and he executed a perfect 20 yard lob over the head of keeper Khalid Al-Samarrie and into the back of the net.
0 - 1
Within 2 minutes Academy doubled their advantage. Davie Allan tore down the right flank and crossed for Lukasz Geruzel who tucked it away from 1 yard out.
0 - 2
Unbelievably the Scorries scored again in the 6th minute. A throw-in on the left was headed up into the air by Geruzel. The wind caught it and it landed on the head of Weir who nodded past the keeper.
0 - 3
Weir went on to grab his hat-trick. Another throw-in on the left from Gary Manson went to Lukasz Geruzel in the box. The big Polish striker chested it down, turned and laid it across the front of goal for Weir to convert from 2 yards out.
0 - 4
Weir is on fire and scores his fourth of the game on the half-hour to put Academy nap. Davie Allan again hit the burners down the right wing before crossing to Weir who scored with a diving header.
0 - 5
Rothes broke from an Academy corner in the 42nd minute and for the first time in the match Sean McCarthy saw some action when he easily collected a Callum McIntosh effort which was on target.
A minute before the half-time break the Scorries netted their 6th goal of the game. The ball was played from the middle of the park through to Weir on the right hand side of the box. He crossed to Richard Macadie and he slotted home at the un-guarded back post.

Half Time - Rothes 0 - Wick Academy 6
69 minutes played and the Rothes threat on the Academy goal has thus-far been next to nothing. Kenneth Mair resorts to a crack from 25 yards out that flew wide of target.
In the only other real action of the half Gary Weir grabbed his 5th goal of the game. Substitute Alan Hughes played the ball in from the right wing and Weir was on it like a flash, running in front of the keeper and lifting it in to the back post.
0 - 7
Connor Cormack from the Academy under 17's got a run-out for the last 9 minutes of the game, making his first team debut, and Academy headed back up the A9 with a convincing victory and a valuable 3 points.
